Edmund Brelsford took an A.B. in Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Miami and a M.A. in French Language and Literature at Middlebury College. His post graduate work has taken him to the University of Paris (Sorbonne), the University of Madrid, the University for Foreigners in Perugia, the University of Grenoble, the University of Havana, the University for Foreigners in Siena, and the Insttuto Brasil-Estados-Unidos in Rio de Janeiro. Well known in the area for his performances of early music, he is also emeritus professor of foreign languages and literatures at Marlboro College, where, during his 44 year tenure, he has also taught comparative literature, linguistics, translation, and both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. Traveling under the auspices of the U.S. State Department, he has conducted seminars on creating U.S. cultural content in the English language classroom in such disparate capitals as Bejing, Cairo and Ulan Bator. Currently he hosts a weekly program, also dedicated to foreign poets, on WDTR, the Marlboro College radio station. He and his wife of 48 years, Veronica, also a retired Marlboro College professor of foreign languages and literatures, continue to live in Marlboro.
